Catering Assistant with Edinburgh Leisure

Duration: 8 weeks

Employer: Edinburgh Leisure is Edinburgh’s biggest provider of Leisure Services, with over 4 million customer visitors a year to their 30 venues across the City.

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a catering assistant with Edinburgh leisure. As part of the programme you will undergo an induction into the role, receive practical experience in a busy kitchen environment and develop skills within customer service whilst maintaining high standards set by environment & health and safety requirements. You will be involved in food preparation, cleaning and serving customers. You will learn how to become an effective member of the team working in a professional catering environment. Each candidate will have an on job mentor who will support you weekly. This is a hands-on role and candidates must be comfortable taking instruction and working as part of a team.

During the 8-week programme candidates will also complete a Certificate of Work Readiness (CWR) with Direct Partners.

On successful completion of the work placement, candidates will be given the opportunity to interview for live vacancies to secure employment and progress to a Modern Apprenticeship.

Kitchen Porter with The Principle Hotel Charlotte Square

Playwork Assistant with Oscars Childcare

Duration: 6 weeks

Employer: Oscars Childcare operates 11 after school clubs, 1 breakfast club and provision during in-service, mid-term, Easter and summer holiday periods across the city.

During this 6 week programme you will work as part of a dedicated team to provide first class support and supervision to children in primary 1 – 7. This is a fast moving and varied environment. The role will include indoor and outdoor working as well as outings and trips during holiday periods. The employer is looking for you to provide a fun and safe environment for the children, offering a warm welcome to both children and visitors. You will assist the team in planning, setting up and delivering activities, observe and participate in activities, prepare snacks for the children and help to enforce club rules. If you are an enthusiastic, friendly and polite individual that is genuinely looking to work with children, this could be a great opportunity for you. The employer is looking for you to be a good communicator, enjoy practical tasks and being involved.

During your work placement you will work towards your Certificate of Work Readiness (CWR).

During this 6 week programme you will work as part of a dedicated team to provide first class support and supervision to children in primary 1 – 7. This is a fast moving and varied environment.
